Shunyata Param Shivah: Originym's First Design Story

Before time had a name. Before light knew what it was. Before even silence could be called silence, what existed?

The Rig Veda's Nasadiya Sukta asked this thousands of years ago:

"There was neither non-existence nor existence then. Neither the realm of space, nor the sky which is beyond. Who really knows? Whence was it produced?"

And here's what makes it unlike anything else ever written, it doesn't answer the question. The Vedic seers looked into the deepest abyss of existence and simply said: we don't know. No mythology dressed up as fact. Just raw, honest wonder. That, in itself, is a kind of wisdom most belief systems never arrive at.

This is where Shunyata (शून्यता) lives. Translated as "the void," it is not nothingness, it is pure potential. The canvas before the painting. In Hindu philosophy, this void is the origin of everything.

Within it, unmanifested, formless, was Shiva. Not the destroyer. Not the cosmic dancer. This is Nirguna Shiva — pure consciousness without an observer. Awareness without thought.

शून्यता परं शिवः — The Void That Is Supreme Shiva.

This is the philosophy behind Originym's first design.

How We Translated the Void Into a T-Shirt

Every element of this design is intentional.

The base: A navy blue acid wash tee, the colour of deep cosmic space before stars had formed.

The front: "शून्यता परं शिवः" in handwritten Devanagari script. Not a digital font but a handwritten inscription. Because some things surely deserve a human touch.

The back: The Om (AUM) symbol in fluid, wavy motion — vibrating, waiting to be released into existence. AUM is the first sound that will break the cosmic silence. Here, it hasn't sounded yet. It is pure potential, mid-breath, before the universe begins.

Below it, the copy reads: "The Void That Is Supreme Shiva." Look closer. The "a" in "that", the "u" in "supreme", the "m" in "supreme" — printed in red. Spell them out: AUM. Hidden in plain sight. Just as creation is hidden within the void.

The right sleeve: A hand-drawn Trishul, patchwork stitched. Even in the pre-creation silence, Shiva's three powers—creation, preservation, dissolution—are present. Not yet activated, but never absent.

The left sleeve: Originym. Our name, woven into the cosmic story. Because this brand exists within this lineage, not outside of it.

Ancient Question. Modern Relevance.

We live in an age of relentless noise. The philosophy of Shunyata cuts through all of it with one quiet truth: the most powerful state is stillness.

Before the universe existed, there was silence. Before every great thing you will ever create — there must be silence too.

This Hindu philosophical design intends to ask a question, every time you wear it: What exists in your own silence?

That question is thousands of years old. It has never been more relevant.

A Note From Originym

Nobody perfectly knows the true story of our beginning. We listen, gather, and learn from our scriptures, scholars, and pandits to understand our roots better. What we share here is what we have been shared, passed down through thousands of years of tradition, interpretation, and devotion.

We are not claiming this information is factually or statistically verifiable by modern scientific standards. We are sharing a living tradition of wisdom, and we invite you to approach it with the same open curiosity we bring to it ourselves.

Originym is an open platform. We do not spread, nor do we endorse, hate of any kind. We welcome every interpretation, every tradition, every story. If you carry a different understanding, we insist you to share it. Let's build this knowledge together, because the truth of our roots belongs to all of us, not any one of us.
